ChildhoodI grew up in the California Redwoods with my two younger brothers in the victorian village of Ferndale. Google it! My home town had less than 1500 people, and my graduating class had only 35 students in 1987. My brothers and I would walk downtown to the local candy shop for a treat or to pick up the mail at the post office-the town was so small, they didn't deliver the mail!
I spent the summer before my senior year in France on a missions trip where we helped to restore an old chateau as a retreat center. For fun, we could walk five miles into town on Saturday afternoons! The French Alps are beautiful. I traveled to the big city of Los Angeles for university and ended up graduating from California State University, Bakersfield in 1991. Family7My husband, Les, and I have been married for 26 years. We have two boys, Seth (21) and Luke (17). Our family enjoys vacations to any place we can be active: Sunriver, camping on the beach, etc.
During the school year, we keep busy with teaching (Les is a teacher/coach at CHS), coaching, and sports. Luke swims and runs track along with attending the Running Start program. Seth is currently attending Life Pacific College in San Dimas, CA. For fun, we like to go to the movies, especially anything that has to do with superheroes! HobbiesOther than time with the family and my passion for reading anything I can, I spend most of my free time training for triathlons. I learned to swim about five years ago, started running, picked up cycling and haven't looked back. I've competed in multiple half marathons and other running events, a few century bike rides and three Ironman 70.3 events!
My BIG GOAL was accomplished on August 21, 2016. Ironman Coeur d'Alene! That's 140.6 miles in ONE day! |
